My work as an artist is an ongoing response to reality. I’ve always heard it’s best to paint from real life. I am influenced by my role as full-time father, my Mexican heritage, the role of the immigrant worker, painting, color, fashion, hip-hop, popular culture, and work.
The foundation of my work is rooted in drawing and painting, but more specifically where the two methods cross paths. I am constantly combining and adding other mediums such as performance, printmaking, video, and sculpture to re-shape, re-define, and respond to issues in society, painting, and my personal life.
Constant themes found in my artwork are work, construction, fatherhood, relationships between color, bridges, and energy.
Additionally I spend time curating and mentoring younger artists in developing their art hustle.
