WHAT:
“Neighborhoods” Art Exhibit by Raul Gonzalez
In an exploration of characteristics that make up a city, Gonzalez sheds light on the people and places that add character to their community. This current body of work begins with photographs he has taken of a city’s local gems--places most people know about--but at the same time, do not receive the glory they deserve. Next, he draws the photograph using only ballpoint pens and marker, extracting information he finds important. He then scans the drawings into a larger format, adds accentuating color using various tools, and ultimately transforms the drawings into large-scale murals. Through this exhibit, viewers will be able to see each step of the process from photograph to drawing to finished mural.

All artwork will be available for purchase and Gonzalez will be in attendance at the opening reception.
