Typically in an art show, you want to install the work so that each piece has enough room to stand on it's own, unless you're doing some sort of installation piece - where everything must interact with each other. There should be enough space between paintings/drawings or what-have-you, so that you kind of need to walk to the next piece.
For my Farewell Show, I didn't exactly follow those rules. When my girlfriend came by to assist me in the evening, I asked her what she thought. Her response was "There's too much work".
I responded with a chuckle.
While there is still a good 12 to 24 inches between each artwork hanging at Jack Meier Gallery, my purpose for this show is to show as much as possible. The whole point of this show is to show and sell just about all the work I had. There's still plenty of pieces in storage, but those will just sit around and increase in value.

I believe last night's final count was 33 pieces, a mixture of paintings, drawings and mixed-media collages, accounting for work created over the past 3 years.
Here's a few photos from yesterday's tasks.
I needed help delivering several of my large paintings. The backseats of my Corolla drop down, which allow me to transport most of my work, but I don't always like to be restricted by the width of what my car will hold. So, I called up my friend and artist, Tony Parana, co-founder and member of the Montrose Art Society. Tony Parana has now added Professional Art Delivery to his list of jobs.
So, for you artists who are creating large-scale works, no need to worry about how to get them to your next art show. Give Tony Parana a call at 323-919-1660 or email him at tonyparanbr@gmail.com
He also provides covers to protect your artwork during their transportation.
Jack Meier Gallery has great wall space and lighting. I am very excited that I get to hang my work on these walls. Note: There is one very large painting hanging in the gallery that is not my work. It is a pain in the butt to try and remove and re-install this single piece, so we decided to leave it up. I'm sure once you see it, you'll know that it's not part of the show.
Here's a sneak peek of the work hanging in the gallery. There's plenty of pieces not pictured in this photo, but you get the idea.
Be sure to stop by the gallery and check out my work. Everything is priced to sell, which means you're getting the work at a better price than it's actual market value. I'll be honest, you're getting a great deal. All work sold will be assisting me as I move go San Antonio to pursue my Masters of Fine Arts degree. School starts in 20 days and I have plenty of projects lined up!
The Opening Reception is Friday, August 10th
6:30 pm - 8:30pm
